The watch
Citizen Quartz Crystron from 1978 in new old stock condition. Beautiful, rare and looking as if it just left the factory almost 50 years ago, including its original price tag. The ribbed chocolate-brown dial is even more exceptional in person. Along with the brushed stainless-steel case and bracelet, it’s such a stunner. The day can be displayed in Japanese Kanji and English and everything works as it should.

Details
Citizen Crystron line, introduced in the late 1960s, was Citizen’s first series of quartz watches. It marked the brand’s entry into the quartz revolution, offering highly accurate timekeeping compared to traditional mechanical watches. Combining innovative electronic technology with Citizen’s craftsmanship, the Crystron watches set the stage for the company’s later advancements in quartz and solar-powered timepieces.

Movement
The Citizen 7100 is a quartz movement produced by Citizen, featuring day-date functionality that displays both the day of the week and the date. It operates with a stepper motor that drives the hands with precise electronic pulses, powered by a standard watch battery. The movement offers reliable accuracy typical of quartz calibers, with a battery life of approximately 2–3 years depending on usage. The 7100 has been widely used in Citizen’s quartz watches.
