The watch Produced in 1985 and left untouched ever since. This compact Citizen Eagle is defined by its clean, understated design. The brushed steel case and integrated bracelet are contrasted by a polished bezel, giving it just enough presence without losing its minimal character.
The light grey dial appears flat at first glance, but reveals a subtle crosshatch linen texture under closer inspection. Details like this set it apart from standard quartz models of the period.
A true new old stock example, complete with its original folded tag and hang tag. The original price tag of ¥45,000 places it well above most quartz watches of its time.
The bracelet features a double folding system and can be adjusted to fit wrists up to approximately 19 cm.
Details In the 1980s, Citizen Watch Co. was fully committed to quartz. Mechanical production was no longer the focus. The brand pushed hard on accuracy, reliability, and mass production, while still experimenting at the higher end.
Quartz calibers from this period, like the 2730, were built to be thin, stable, and easy to service. Citizen also worked on thermocompensation and high-accuracy quartz, but those sat in more premium lines such as Exceed. Most models were straightforward daily watches, often with clean dials, sharp cases, and integrated bracelets typical of the decade.
What stands out is how industrial Citizen became. They weren’t chasing prestige. They were producing precise, affordable watches at scale, and doing it well. That’s why many 80s Citizen quartz pieces still run today without much trouble.
