The watch
This Grand Seiko 6146-8000 "Crosshair" from 1968 is a rare and collectible piece. What makes this example special is the distinctive crosshair on the dial, making it stand out from the regular 61GS. It has been serviced and paired with a new Seiko leather strap.
It is in very good, unpolished condition. The dial is nearly perfect, with only a tiny imperfection in the ‘HI-BEAT’ lettering. The gold medallion on the caseback is intact and in excellent condition, a detail often missing or damaged on vintage examples. The case shows signs of wear, and the crystal has been replaced with a NOS acrylic crystal. The quickset function for the date is working as it should.
The watch has been fully serviced by a professional watchmaker in December 2025. The service included complete disassembly, cleaning, lubrication and reassembly.
Details
The watch is powered by the 6146A automatic movement, which beats at 36,000 vibrations per hour, delivering smooth and precise timekeeping, especially after the recent service. It features a day and date complication at 3 o'clock, setting it apart from the 6145-8000, which only has a date function.
