Details
The ‘5’ in Seiko 5 stands for 5 principles or features: automatic winding, a day/date display, water resistance (however, please don’t go swimming wearing this watch), a recessed crown and a durable case and bracelet.
The Seiko 7S26 is a self-winding automatic movement introduced in 1996 and widely used in Seiko's entry-level dive and sports watches, such as the Seiko SKX series. It features 21 jewels, operates at 21.600 beats per hour, and has a power reserve of approximately 40 hours. The 7S26 is known for its reliability and durability, though it lacks manual winding and hacking (the ability to stop the second hand for precise time-setting). It was eventually succeeded by the 4R36 and 6R15 movements, which introduced additional features like hacking and hand-winding.
