The watch
Here’s a rare Seiko Dolce dress watch from 1993. It has a subtle gold marble dial set in a glossy Tungsten Carbide case with onyx crown, driven by the precise 8N41 quartz movement. Tungsten Carbide scores a 9 on the MOHS hardness scale, making it nearly scratch-proof.
The watch is in perfect, unpolished shape, with a spotless case and sapphire crystal. The caseback shows minor marks from being opened before, but otherwise, it’s practically new old stock.
Dolce was Seiko’s upscale line in the ‘80s and ‘90s. This one originally sold for ¥76,000 in 1993.
Details
The Seiko 8N41 is a highly accurate quartz movement known for its precision, offering an impressive accuracy of ±20 seconds per year. Designed with simplicity and reliability in mind, it features a slim profile, making it ideal for dress watches.
Notably, the 8N41 includes a hacking seconds function, allowing the second hand to stop when the crown is pulled out, enabling precise time synchronization.
With a battery life of about three years, the 8N41 is a low-maintenance yet dependable movement, valued for its high-accuracy quartz (HAQ) performance.
