The watch
This 1983 Seiko quartz has the look of a mini Seiko Superior, with its 33mm polished case, well-made integrated bracelet and white sunburst dial. The day wheel can be shown in both Japanese kanji and English, and the quickset works properly. The stainless steel bracelet can easily be adjusted to fit most wrist sizes.
The watch is in excellent, unpolished condition. The case and bracelet show light signs of use, while the crystal is free from scratches.
The engraving on the caseback suggests the watch was given as a long-service award in January 1984 by a Japanese manufacturing company to an employee celebrating 25 years of service.
Details
Inside is Seiko’s cal. 9063 high-accuracy quartz movement, using the company’s “Twin Mode” technology developed during Seiko’s push for ultra-precise quartz watchmaking in the early 1980s. Unlike standard quartz movements running at 32,768 Hz, the 9063 operates at 196,608 Hz using an FT-cut crystal vibrating in both flexural and torsional modes to improve long-term stability and reduce temperature-related variation. When new, the movement was rated to an accuracy of around ±20 seconds per year.
