The watch
A classic vintage Seiko dress watch with a manual wind movement. It features a clean sunburst dial with applied markers and sharp dauphine hands. With no day or date window, the design stays balanced, slim, and understated. It comes fitted with a new Seiko leather strap.
The watch is in very good, unpolished condition. The case shows some signs of wear, while the domed crystal has no noticeable scratches. Overall, it presents very well for a watch produced around 55 years ago.
Details
The Seiko Skyliner was introduced in the early 1960s as a slim, manually wound dress watch within Seiko’s domestic Japanese lineup. The model was positioned as an elegant everyday watch, with restrained case shapes, clean dials and a thinner profile than many automatic models from the same period.
This Skyliner uses Seiko’s 6100-series hand-wound movement. These movements are simple, robust and practical, with a direct mechanical feel when winding and setting the watch. The appeal of the Skyliner line is not in complication or rarity, but in its balance: classic proportions, understated design and reliable Seiko engineering from an important period in the brand’s development.
